I have ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease, so I had to give up a teaching career, travel, and most of my friends and relationships with people who "don't know what to say", find my illness distasteful, don't want to think it could have been s/he, are suddenly "too busy", or any other hangup or excuse they might have conjured up to rationalize their distance. On the other hand, I have chosen to live with ALS, not prepare to die.

HI Fern, Thank you for the friend request! Sorry my comment was so short, but to be honest I was brought up on "alternative american history" and have read author's like Howard Zinn. I do intend on reading "Hidden History" though. I cannot believe you said Sarah Brandt! I love that series! I actually may have missed one or two since we moved her, got to check that out.
